David Robinson

David Robinson: Group CEO

David is the CEO of PD Ports. He joined the Group in August 2002 and is a leading specialist in container terminal operations. He started his port career at the Port of Felixstowe and held a variety of operational management positions before becoming Divisional Head of Trinity Container Terminal at Felixstowe. In 1994 he went to Hong Kong to manage the Hutchison Port Holdings container operations in that territory. During this period he led a major expansion programme and helped create what is now the world's largest container terminal.

Dermot Russell
Dermot Russell: Group Chief Financial Officer

Dermot joined PD Ports in March 2000 as Group Financial Controller. He was closely involved with the sale to Nikko and consequent refinancing of the business in the period 2000-2001, with the sale, flotation and Full Listing in 2004, and with the Group's acquisition by Babcock & Brown Infrastructure in 2005-06. In May 2006, Dermot was appointed Group Chief Financial Officer for PD Ports. An Oxford graduate, Dermot qualified as a chartered accountant with Deloitte Haskins & Sells (later Coopers & Lybrand Deloitte), and subsequently held senior finance roles at Grainger Trust plc and Northumbrian Water Group.

Jerry Hopkinson
Jerry Hopkinson: Managing Director Bulks, Ports & Logistics

Jerry has been employed by PD Ports and its predecessors since 1976. His early career involved the setting up of operations to provide port logistics to the offshore energy industry in both the Irish and North Sea. As Group Operations Director for PD Ports on the Humber he and his colleagues developed various short sea ports on the Rivers Ouse and Trent and the main stevedoring operator in the deepwater ports of Immingham and Grimsby. He led the privatisation of port operations in the Humber, following the repeal of the National Dock Labour Scheme.

Frans Calje
Frans Calje: Managing Director Unitised

Frans joined PD Ports in May 2008. Frans brings considerable experience in the development of container terminals throughout Europe and in the USA, gained during a very progressive career within APM Terminals. As Senior Project Manager Business Development for APM Terminals International, he led the $100 million JV Project between APMT and CMA/CGM to deliver a 30 year concession for the port of Mobile, Alabama. In his last role as General Manager Project Implementation and Business Development, amongst other notable achievements Frans had been instrumental in the successful APMT bid for the first concession at the new Rotterdam Maasvlakte 2 development.

Michael McConnell
Michael McConnell: Group Property Director

Michael joined PD Ports as Group Property Director in 2007 and is based at PD Ports' Queen's Square head office. Previously employed as Head of Property for Regeneration Company Sunderland Arc, Michael was responsible for the £1.3 billion plan to regenerate Sunderland City Centre and the River Wear corridor. Michael has extensive experience in urban regeneration programme management, gained from working in a number of local authority organisations in the North East. He has worked very closely with the private sector in the delivery of major remediation and redevelopment strategies. He is therefore very well experienced with the wide range of stakeholder interests, which are integral to regeneration projects such as the multi million pound development by PD Ports at Victoria Harbour in Hartlepool.

Russell Mcallion
Russell McCallion: Group Human Resources Director

Russ joined PD Ports in September 2002 in the new position of Human Resources Director. Russ has significant senior level experience in both HR and general management. Before PD Ports, Russ was Director at London Luton Airport where he helped delivered major cost reductions and restructuring programmes, prior to the sale of the business to TBI plc. He joined London Luton from Unipart Group where he was responsible for managing the HR aspects of the disengagement of the Unipart DCM from the long standing contractual relationship with Rover Cars, then owned by BMW Group.
